Guided Bird Walk: Grasslands & Spring Canyon

Discover some of the many resident and migratory birds in different areas of Mission Trails park.


Join Mission Trails bird walk leaders for a guided bird walk in the Grasslands and Spring Canyon area of the park. Look for hungry hawks that like to frequent this part of the park as well as sage-scrub species. The Saturday bird walk is designed for beginning or newer birdwatchers, but all skill levels are welcome. Walks canceled if raining.

When: Saturday, January 18, 8 am to 10 am

Where: Mission Trails Regional Park East Fortuna staging area, Mast Boulevard at SR-52, Santee. mtrp.org

Borrego Springs Film Festival

The model is “traditional film festival.” A bunch of film lovers gathering to watch truly independent movies and having a good time. It’s the best way to fest!


On Sunday see films like Audition: A man auditions for a role in a commercial, it doesn’t go as he planned. And Ghost Town: Two friends lumber into a ghost town to break a strange curse. The Borrego Springs Film Festival will have a catered opening gala, a filmmaker networking event, filmmaker activities, a catered Saturday party, panel discussions, a red carpet event, and a catered award ceremony.

When: Wednesday, January 15 through Sunday, Jan 19
