Blues singer-guitarist Larry Teves — aka Chickenbone Slim — named his band The Biscuits because biscuits are his favorite food. Their album Damn Good and Ready was nominated for both Best Blues Album and Best Album at the 2024 San Diego Music Awards, where the band was also nominated as Best Blues Artist.

Steve Poltz’s 16th Annual 50th Birthday Bash will include a reunion of local comedy cowpunk icons The Rugburns. Their major label debut Morning Wood spawned national hits such as “Me and Eddie Vedder,” and they were staples of local radio with “Hitchhiker Joe.”

Allison Adams Tucker’s debut full-length Come With Me was nominated Best Jazz Album at the 2009 San Diego Music Awards, and she’s gone on to become a staple of the local jazz scene, as well as launching several international tours. Accompanied pianist Melonie Grinnell and bassist Evona Wascinski, the Valentine-themed program will explore songs in “The Language of Love” from around the world.

Jeff Berkley first earned local notice as half of the duo Berkley Hart, which has racked up several San Diego Music Awards. As a solo artist, his full-length Twelve earned a Best Americana Album SDMA, and he’s also been a prolific producer for countless local acts, including Joel Raphael, Gregory Page, Lisa Sanders, Stevie and the Hi-Stax, and Tim Flannery.

Almost Monday is an alternative rock band featuring teen surfing pals Dawson Daugherty (vocals, bass) and Luke Fabry (guitar), later joined by Cole Clisby (guitar). They’ve gone on tour with Weathers and AJR, as well as playing the Wonderfront Festival, and they currently have a chart-topping hit single with “Can’t Slow Down.”
