German guitarist Ottmar Liebert is a five-time Grammy nominee who began playing guitar at age 11. Later relocating from Europe to Boston in the 1980s, he played in the alternative rock band RED with his brother Stefan. By 1989, he had moved to New Mexico and founded the first Luna Negra band and was developing his signature Nouveau Flamenco sound. His debut album went double-platinum and he has now been a staple of the Spanish, Mexican, and World Music scenes for over three decade.
