Clikitat Ikatowi at the Casbah
April 17
Post-hardcore/emo math rockers Clikatat Ikatowi featured drummer Mario Rubalcaba (Rocket from the Crypt, the Black Heart Procession, Hot Snakes, the Sultans, Earthless). Active in the early to mid-1990s, the band released a demo tape, a full-length album, an EP, and a live album before splitting. Last October, they reunited for the first time in 29 years for a set at the Casbah, where they had played their final concert, and the vibes proved positive enough for this newest reunion performance to be staged at the same Little Italy venue.

The onstage touring version of the book features Hoppus discussing songs he wrote such as “All the Small Things” and “What’s My Age Again,” as well as his mental struggles, and his brush with cancer and journey back to health. He’ll also discuss musical side projects such as +44, his work as a TV host and involvement in various philanthropic efforts, and the recent (and presumably ongoing) Blink-182 reunion.

“We’ve been a band since the early ‘90s and are probably up on the list as one of the longest running San Diego bands,” says drummer Chad Farran of Superunloader. “We started playing shows as Bad Mood Zeus with a different bass player in 1991 and toured the West Coast, with the highlight being an opening show for Santana and Bob Dylan.” After a long period of recording inactivity, in 2017 they released their first new album in nearly 20 years. They’ll stage their 30 year Anniversary party in Ocean Beach at Winstons, the same venue where they recorded part of their album Live and Unfashionable.
