One River, Many Stories: SD River Art
The San Diego River Artists’ Alliance is a collective of eighteen visual and 3D artists dedicated to spending time along the San Diego River — from its source in mountains near Julian to the ocean. Time and experience along the river create the stories the artists retell in their artwork.

Based in Los Angeles since 2010, reggae band Arise Roots describes their music as “positive classic roots sound with a modern twist”. Among their half dozen albums and EPs are collaborations with several San Diegans, including E.N. Young of Tribal Seeds and members of Hirie, Slightly Stoopid, and Stick Figure. Opener Nick Sefakis, best known from his stint with Iya Terra, was voted Breakout Artist of the Year by Reggae360 in 2020.

The longest-running community event in Coronado remains the largest tented flower show in the United States. This year’s theme is Cirque des Fleurs, inspired by vintage circuses and floral artistry. Expect displays, community contests, and a nod to the historic roots of the show. Build your own bouquet at the children’s area, check out the food from local eateries, and peruse the tents to view award-winning flora.

The Lagoon Restoration Project Presentation
The Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation’s mission is to preserve, protect, and enhance the threatened Batiquitos Lagoon. The Lagoon Restoration Project, 1994-97 presentation will be given by Betty Dehoney, a leading member of the project. Dehoney will talk about the complex process and the far-reaching effects, leading up to its current status, which is largely successful.

Come celebrate sportfishing here at the start of this year's saltwater fishing season. Explore the latest fishing tackle from vendors. Enjoy presentations on proper handling, storage, and preparation of fresh fish. Check out recipes and samples at the seminars. Participate in casting contests, knot-tying demonstrations, and knot competitions. There will be boat rides around the bay for $4. For kids, there will be a stocked fishing area and assistance provided by professionals. To help set the celebratory mood, several local bands will perform.
