San Marcos Harvest Fest

The San Marcos Harvest Fest has moved the North City area this year and features Arts and Crafts vendors, carnival rides, a food court, local craft beer, wine and kombucha and live music.


The Little Shepherds Nature Lab will provide a school bus delivering pop-up composting station, mini greenhouse, literacy nook, and live worm bin. Enjoy bunnies, chickens, nature crafts, face painting, and a soap box stage for performances. There will be street food, award-winning ice cream, and family restaurants. Listen to live performances on two stages from local artists and bands. Unwind with drinks from San Marcos craft breweries and wineries.

The Distinct Modernism of San Diego

San Diego’s modernism has several characteristics which, when taken together, give rise to a distinctiveness that goes all the way back to the work of Irving J. Gill (1870–1936) at the beginning of the last century.


This four-part lecture series tells the story of the emergence, development, and lineage of architectural modernism in San Diego. Attention is usually focused on Palm Springs, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, but San Diego’s modernism has several characteristics which are distinctive. Each lecture features architects who played a part in the story of San Diego’s architectural style. Presenters include Rev. Dr. Mark Hargreaves, Hallie Swenson, Keith York, and Dave Hampton.

When: Wednesdays, October 16, 23 & 30; November 6, 7:30 pm
