Now King is debuting her solo album Departure, due October 22, with an album listening and cocktail party. Preceded so far by singles for “Lush Life” and “Shadow Of Your Smile,” the album is a tribute to her late father, Ron King, a local jazz trumpet player who passed away in 2021.

Post-hardcore/emo math rockers Clikatat Ikatowi featured drummer Mario Rubalcaba (Rocket from the Crypt, the Black Heart Procession, Hot Snakes, the Sultans, Earthless). Active in the early to mid-’90s, the band released a demo tape, a full-length album, an EP, and a live album before splitting. “The last show that Clikatat ever played was at Casbah San Diego,” says Rubalcaba. “That was 29 years ago! It’s only fitting for that our return show be there as well.” The bill includes Negative Blast and Witch Face.
