Daring Greatly, who relocated from Calgary, AB Canada to San Diego in August 2015, were at one time fronted by Dail Croome and his two sons, Patrick and Liam, who had been performing on stage with him since grade school. Now the dad is out of the band, and Patrick Croome aka Patch is performing solo sets around town.

This month, Sara Petite’s Americana Roundup will feature an evening of songs written by local heroes The Beat Farmers and the recently passed Mojo Nixon. Scheduled performers include Petite along with Jeff Berkley, Chloe Lou, Shawn Rohlf, Ariel Levine, Jonny Wagon, Craig Fischer, Rick Wilkins, Ashley E. Norton, Brenda Gail, and Nathan Raney, whose father Jerry was a founding Beat Farmer.

This year’s day-long edition of Punk In the Park offers craft beer tasting and headliners The Offspring and Pennywise. The bill includes local ska heroes Buck-O-Nine, who played their first club gig opening for the Mighty Mighty Bosstones at the Spirit Club (now Brick by Brick) in early 1992. Also appearing will be Streetlight Manifesto, Face To Face, Manic Hispanic, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Slaughterhouse, and Winterhaven.

Solo singer-songwriter Justin Froese first picked up the guitar at age 5 to play with his father. He cites The Lumineers among his influences, as well as Jeff Buckley. In addition to his solo work, he fronted and wrote songs for Taming the Fox and has produced records for the Smart Brothers and Benjamin Doerr.
