July 4th BBQ Dinner & Fireworks

Enjoy a BBQ dinner and fireworks viewing from the McKinney Deck of the 1898 Berkeley, a national and state historic landmark, or the waterfront barge to the rear of the Berkeley. Adult guests will enjoy BBQ dinners with a pulled pork sandwich, potato salad, chips, and cookie. Children can have hot dogs, potato salad, chips, and cookies. Plant-based options available upon request.

When: Thursday, July 4, 7 pm to 9:30 pm

Stars at Mission Trails

The SDAA holds a monthly Star Party at Mission Trails Regional Park on the first Friday of every month at sunset.

Join members from the San Diego Astronomy Association at the far end of the Kumeyaay Lake Campground day use parking lot to view the nighttime sky through telescopes. Telescopes provided or bring your own if you have one. There will be a waxing gibbous moon at 80 percent illumination. There is an opportunity to catch Mercury before it sets at the horizon at 9:30 pm, earlier due to Mt. Fortuna. The bright star in the East is Vega, part of the Summer Triangle with Deneb and Altair. Rain or cloudy skies cancel event. Look for the set-up at dusk.

When: Friday, July 5, 7:45 pm to 9:45 pm

Summer Culture Fest

Experience a day filled with cultural performances, authentic cuisine, and a melting pot of shared experiences.


Foods from all around the world: Cajun, French pastries, Argentinian street food, Brazilian crepes, beef lumpia, pancit, pork bbq skewers, Japanese cheesecake, bubble waffles, peri-peri chicken, lemongrass skewers. and fermented hot sauces. Craft vendors include handmade soaps, cork hats, resin art, Okinawa-inspired clothing, and Turkish jewelry. Local beers for $5 each ticket. Wine and cocktails available.

When: Saturday, July 6, 2 pm
