Songwriter Sanctuary at Normal Heights United Methodist Church

The Holiday Edition of the Songwriter Sanctuary series will feature in-the-round performances from several locals in an intimate setting that includes audience interaction and artists sharing the stories behind their music. Hosted by San Diego Music Hall of Famer Jeff Berkley (Berkley Hart), performers will include Kimmi Bitter, Mark Montijo, and Bobo Czarnowski.
B-Side Players at Guggenheim Theatre

The Intersections Concert Series will present the B-Side Players, launched in 1994 and featuring socially conscious dance music sung in both Spanish and English. They’ve taken home San Diego Music Awards for Best World Music and Best World Album. The event will include a 90-minute performance from the band, as well as an intimate Q&A with the audience.

The Crawdaddys formed in 1978, inspired by British rhythm-and-blues groups of the early 1960s such as the Pretty Things and the Rolling Stones. This reunion show is headlined by mod blues quartet The Loved Ones, who recently reunited for the first time in nearly a decade to record new music. The bill also includes The Mothmen, featuring members from the Crawdaddys, the Penetrators, the Tell-Tale Hearts, and the Unknowns.

Saint Luna is an alternative psychedelic surf punk band founded during the 2020 pandemic shutdown by five SDSU students, including Park City native and rhythm guitarist Charlie Black. Also appearing will be Mom Cars (an indie/alt rock outfit based in Sacramento) and Sunshower, an alt-surf pink band featuring members from Carlsbad and Oceanside.

Named after the legendary western Cattle Call town, Brawley has included musicians from the Hacienda Brothers, Smith’s Ranch Boys, the Forbidden Pigs, Rancho Deluxe, and others. Nominated multiple times for San Diego Music Awards, they cite among their influences honky-tonk country music heroes such as Faron Young, Ray Price, and Hee-Haw star Buck Owens.
