Host Jefferson Jay will commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Atheneum’s Acoustic Evenings series by recognizing its history of leadership by women with a series of concerts driven by local women performers. The October 20 edition features blues icons Sue Palmer and Liz Ajuzie, singer Lisa Sanders, and Eagles songwriter Jack Tempchin.

Los Shadows at Soda Bar Oct 20

Based in National City, surf/dream pop rockers Los Shadows is fronted by singer/guitarists Andy Saldana and Pepe Gonzalez. After self-releasing their self-titled debut album, they were signed to local Chuck Records, who put out their Midnight Climax full-length. The bill includes rising Ramona talent Jesus Guerrero and Los Angeles surf-wave rockers Twin Seas.

Audio Perdisco features local blues hero Enrique Sotelo, who is gaining a reputation as one of the hottest guitarists in San Diego. The OB bill includes The Jam Berries, an up-and-coming jam band out of north county San Diego. You can also catch Audio Perdisco the following night, Saturday October 21, at Pure Project in Vista. 

Splitrock Festival at Splitrock Farm & Retreat Oct 21 and 22

The Splitrock Festival features acts like Sitting on Stacy, Ruby Chase, Jeff Dye, and more. In addition to live music, there will be opportunities to connect with nature, with guided hikes, nature walks, outdoor yoga sessions, and other activities. The festival will also feature local food and holistic vendors. 

Project Sellout Album Release at Lions Den Tattoo Studio Oct 21

Lemon Grove skate-rockers Project Sellout will celebrate their 11 year anniversary and the release of their compilation album Ancient Relics with a farewell performance. A surprise band temporarily named “Create Girls” will appeal to fans of Destroy Boys, and the bill includes an Oatmeal reunion with David Orozco, who will also take part in PSO’s set. Also appearing will be Backhand, Funeral March, Left to Rot, and Discard This Message.
