Influenced by Britpop music and mod fashion, Pleasure Pill features frontman Jonah Paz (JINX!) and his brother Ethan Paz (rhythm guitar), whose father Oscar Paz played with Kill Holiday in the 1990s and Hingada in the early 2020s. The brothers recently released a single for “Not Giving Up,” followed by “Wonder How.” The Little Italy bill includes Sands, 12 Gauge Trixie, and Doll Riot.
Rolling Stones touring saxophonist Karl Denson will convene his band Tiny Universe in order to pay tribute to hip-hop heroes the Beastie Boys. The outdoor Del Mar set will feature guest performances from members of local reggae rock stars Slightly Stoopid, along with a custom DJ set by Z-Trip.
The Mercedes Moore Band first earned local notice when it was nominated Best Blues at the 2012 San Diego Music Awards. They’re among the most frequently seen acts on local stages, including Queen Bee’s new weekly Tuesday night swing dance, where Moore also teaches swing classes. Moore will bring her soul, R&B, funk band to Miramar to perform a free set at Bogey’s.
Chest Fever, the aka for locals Mrs. Henry, will perform their version of The Band’s iconic album and film The Last Waltz in Solana Beach. The evening includes guest performances from Benjamin Dakota Rogers, Albert Lee, Scarlet Rivera, Cindy Cashdollar, Jerry Leger, Devin Cuddy, Nicole Cerminara, and Sugarmill Slim.
Taking place in OB, Punk Riffs & Mosh Pits 2 kicks off at 3 in the afternoon with four bands for eight bucks. The 21+ event features performances by Atomic Jellyfish (Los Angeles), The Hemogoblins (San Diego), Blue Elephant & the Seven Snakes (San Diego), and Vitto & The Trees (San Diego).
