The fifteenth anniversary celebration for the Acoustic Evenings at the Athenaeum series is headlined by Marie Haddad, who first earned local notice with the San Diego Beat Organization, which was nominated as Best New Artist at the 2002 San Diego Music Awards. The bill includes a set from Israel Maldonado, who melds Brazilian, salsa, gypsy, funk, reggae, classical, and rock, and a duo performance by Jimmy Patton and Enrique Platas.
Enjoy an evening of psych-tinged melodic rock from two North County indie bands, with the Drabs from Carlsbad topping the bill and getting opening support from San Diego-via-Anacortes Washington band The Gift Machine. Both groups will be showcasing material from their newly released LPs, the Drabs’ Hurry Light and The Gift Machine’s Consolation Prize.
The Fall Fest in Nestor features local artisan vendors, kid’s activities, native plant and seed displays and demonstrations, food trucks, and family-friendly live music. Headline performer Gregory Page has released around two dozen folkie albums since 1990, as well as playing and recording with the Rugburns and the Hatchet Brothers, and he’s produced music for over two dozen artists, including Jason Mraz and Tom Brosseau.
Singer-songwriter Amanda Cogan is best known as the singer for Rosewood & Rye. Cogan will celebrate the release of her debut solo album Shifting Winds by headlining a bill that includes performances by Uruguay-born singer-songwriter Gaby Aparicio, whose bilingual album La Bella Vita earned a 2020 San Diego Music Award nomination. Also appearing will be Howlin Moon and Ash Foster.
The 15th Annual Thanksgiving Punk Rock Food Drive is an all-ages event raising food and funds for the North County Food Bank. Bands include Corporate Citizen, Bad Cop Bad Cop, Failing Up, Flailing Idiot, Fine Dining, F+, and Parade of Horribles. An after-party will feature Bad Religion tribute Generator. Bring three non-perishable food items and receive a free raffle ticket.
