Anti-Trump, pro-pal
I’m not dropping my Trumper/MAGA friends just ‘cuz I’m Ridin’ With Biden (“Trump Trumps Love”, Cover Story, Feb 2). Politicians come and go. Friendships last forever. Trumpers come in two flavors: rich and those buying into the illusion of Trump being an outsider who’s on their side. I’m happy to debate and listen to friends about the pros and cons of each.
I still answer my cell when I know the first line is going to be: “good morning lib-tard, how the fuck are ya?” I still try to explain that Trump is not the CEO character he played on The Apprentice but rather more like the George Costanza character on Seinfeld who trampled little kids and knocked over an old lady with a walker to rush out of an apartment he thought was on fire. Trump’s a selfish, boring, loser; and he’s done. Biden will go down in history as one of our best presidents ever. He’s stopping Putin instead of trading Ukraine for a hotel deal in Moscow. We debate politics for a little while, get bored, and move onto other topics. We’re friends.
We can disagree without being disagreeable. Lighten up, get off or limit social media, and circle back with family and friends; preferably in person.
Locker room lamentations
Hi, I’m calling in response to Eric Bartl's article on page 2 about the Santee controversy (“Naked man at Santee YMCA produces litmus test”, Neighborhood News, Jan 23) . I used to work for a government agency and we had people who legitimately changed their gender and needed that changed on their documents. But, we made them bring in medical documentation.
They can’t just say I self-identify as a boy or I self-identify as a girl. You can’t do that. That’s the answer for these people. That seems to be the solution. You can’t just go around saying that you think you’re a man or you think you’re a woman. Like you’d change your religion, okay. That’s the deal, that’s all it should be. I don’t know where some of these leftist people are from or what planet they live on.
