“I got super into Japanese drifting and boxing.”

Jared Mattson (The Mattson 2) releases his debut solo full-length Peanut on March 31 via Chaz Bear’s Carpark imprint Company Records, preceded by a single and music video for “Please Come Here.” “I wrote the song in Japanese,” says Mattson. “Video-wise, I was in such a different place as a result of the space and pace forced upon us by the pandemic. I got super into Japanese drifting and boxing.”

Reverend Stickman

“With the help of the illustrious and industrious [Ike Turner drummer] Bill Ray, I’m recording some original music that otherwise might never have been recorded,” reports singer-songwriter Reverend Stickman. “My friend and studio wizard Bob Bartosik, who produced my SDMA-nominated More Than Blues album, will be producing the first tracks of my next project. The songs will definitely be an eclectic mix. Perhaps even schizophrenic...break out the Crown Royal.”
