Founded in 2009, the Schizophonics plays fuzzy, psychedelic rock. Singer-guitarist Pat Beers fronts the band with his wife Lety Mora (the Rosalyns), who attended high school with him in Arizona. The little Italy bill includes Creeptxotica and a set from DJ Tony the Tyger. The Schizophonics will return to the Casbah on Saturday, December 30, to co-headline with local horror rockers The Creepy Creeps.
Formed in the early 2000s, Transfer has earned several San Diego Music Awards and nominations in categories such as Song of the Year, Best Alternative Album, Best Rock Band, Best Rock Album, and simply Best Rock. The show will be opened by locals Miniaturized (whose self-titled debut album dropped in March) and Sun Bender.
Barefoot Hockey Goalie creates bizarre mini rock operas, such as Fedik’s Butcher Shop, about Estonian Butchers and their adventures in America. “We are currently recording a new release,” reports singer Blair Hatch of new songs in progress, including “Too Fast Too Young” and “FU I’m From.” For this rare live performance, “We will be commemorating the 30th anniversary of the rock opera Darius and premiering the new release of Clairemont, a suburban rock opera.”
Almost Monday is an alternative rock band featuring teen surfing pals Dawson Daugherty (vocals, bass), Luke Fabry (guitar), later joined by Cole Clisby (guitar). Summer 2023 saw the release of a single, “only wanna dance,” now making its way up the Alternative Radio Chart. They also joined AJR for select dates and made several festival appearances including Wonderstruck, Have A Nice Trip (Korea), Wonderbus, and Life Is Beautiful.
The release party for the latest installment of Allison Adams Tucker’s RETRO Trilogy album series will feature guitarist Peter Sprague, Danny Green (keys), Justin Grinnell (bass), Matt DiBiase (synth, xylophone), and jazz ukulele artist and drummer Abe Lagrimas Jr. The performance includes 3D animated motion graphics synched to DiBiase’s synth xylophone and live hula hoop artist performances.
