Pierce the Veil was founded by singer-guitarist Vic Fuentes and his drummer brother Mike, both former Mission Bay High School students. They released a new album earlier this year, The Jaws of Life, along with a single and video for the track “12 Fractures” featuring guest singer-songwriter Chloe Moriondo. The bill includes Dayseeker, LS Dunes, and Destroy Boys.

Alvino & the Dwells at the Casbah Dec 1

Surf rockers Alvino & the Dwells have their roots in San Diego’s teen post-punk and mod scenes, with founding members from Manual Scan, the Answers, and Furious IV. Their song “Chocolate Mint” appears on a recent Spanish compilation Music For Gloves, a fundraising effort to raise money for medical supplies in Spain. The Woggles headline.

Reggae rockers Common Sense were founded by singer Nick Hernandez, who started the band in Santa Barbara while studying music at UCSB. The group has been playing live shows around the country ever since, and their album releases include a concert set recorded in Solana Beach, Live at the Belly Up. The bill includes SM Familia and Ganda.

Frequency Vocal Jazz Ensemble at MiraCosta College Dec 12

The Frequency Vocal Jazz Ensemble will feature choir repertoire as well as performances by selected soloists. Many songs will be selected from the Great American Songbook and performed either a cappella or with a student rhythm section. Directed by Matt Falker and held in the Concert Hall (OC2400) on the Oceanside Campus.

Headphone was co-founded in 2014 by Morgan McRae, who studied piano and business management at St. Louis University. “Our music blends our interests in everything from classical and jazz to electronic and independent rock,” according to the band, “while the lyrics look at the enigmatic space between connection and detachment, hopefulness and despair.” The bill includes Blushtone and Sweater Weather.
