“A cliche martyrdom of ego death”

Strange Bouquets
Strange Bouquets

A new collaborative project called Strange Bouquets, featuring Rory Morison from Drug Hunt, just released a single and music video for “Mirrors,” previewing an upcoming self-titled album. Says Morison, “A solo record always seemed too self-indulgent for me, and a music video even more so. Rather than stray away, I leaned in. The video represents a psychiatric act, a cliche martyrdom of ego death that, although theatrical and naive, it helped me accept this new creation and break away from fears, doubt, and self-sabotage.”

Greyboy Allstars

A Town Called Earth: The Immortal Edition celebrates the 25th anniversary of the popular Greyboy Allstars album, debuting on streaming platforms and limited edition 180-gram “Earth-swirl” double vinyl with the previously unreleased track “Cassiopeia’s Chair.” Keyboardist Robert Walter recalls, “By the time we were recording this album, we also had played a ton of shows. It was very telepathic.”

Bella Kaye

18 year-old Bella Kaye’s new autobiographical single “Psycho Ex” marks a shift toward dark pop aimed squarely at Gen Z. “From my perspective, I feel Gen Z is the generation of putting our foot down on the BS, consciously waking up to and moving past and healing [the] limiting beliefs or societal conditions. Growing up in a digital age of social media, so many Gen Z-ers had to experience the toxicity of social media, the curation, the fake perfection, etc. If you get to the other side, you realize how ridiculous it is.”

Lindsay White

New mom Lindsay White says that Qulyn, her line of paperback journals, is “for folks with feels.” Named after her late mother Jacqulyn, the journals cover topics that society tends to avoid addressing, such as grief, death, heartbreak, and postpartum struggles. The first journal dropped via Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing in January 2021, and Qulyn launched its eighth title in August.

Jefferson Jay

Jefferson Jay will host the 4th Annual San Diego Music Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony at OB’s Newbreak Church on November 11. 2022 inductees include Gustavo Romero (who’ll perform), Marine Band San Diego, Chris Hillman, The Cheathams, Larry Zeiger, and the late Alex DePue. Performers include Sue Palmer & Liz Ajuzie, Jeff Berkley & The Banned, Jamie Shadowlight, Larry Zeiger, Rob Deez, and Gato Papacitos.
