When you mess up, just say sorry.

Fighting the crowd is another aspect of surfing

How long have you been surfing?

I first started surfing when I was like 11. I really started getting into it when I was 16 and I finally had a car and could drive myself to the beach.

Who taught you?

My dad taught me. It was awesome because I wanted to try my hardest and do a good job and show off for my dad every time we went out.

What is your favorite break?

Lately my favorite break has been the La Jolla reefs, but on days like today it does get a little crowded. So, you have to fight the crowd, but that is just another aspect of learning how to surf and getting better.

What’s the craziest thing you have witnessed in the water?

We saw some dolphins today. I was surprised to see them so close to the reef. They were in pretty shallow water. Nothing too crazy happens here at Windansea, but I did see a fish completely surface, so there was a lot of wildlife out there today.

What is some surf etiquette you wish others would follow?

There are so many! The biggest one is just acknowledging when you mess-up. When you mess up, you just need to acknowledge it. If you do that, even the best guy out there is going to be okay with you, as long as you give an apology.

What do you love most about surfing?

It can be a great work out because I don’t like going to the gym. It is always a great time! No matter how bad I surf, no matter how bad the weather is, or how bad the conditions are, it is always a fun day just getting wet and getting in the water swimming around and hanging out with my homies.
