I very much enjoy the “Outdoors” segment. Hope you keep it coming.
If Patrick Soon-Shiong allows reporting faked/altered news to attack Israel then maybe he should resign(“Union-Tribune’s new voice from the north is Soon-Shiong’s daughter,” News Ticker, April 5).
To wit: The San Diego Union Tribune of Thursday, May 20, 2021 ran a article by Los Angeles Times reporters Dina Kraft, Laura King & Hana Salah showing a photo titled “Palestinian children sit on an unexploded rocket missile from an Israeli warplane in Gaza City on Wednesday.” Trouble is: this is a faked photo.
I am a retired Navy Aviation Ordnanceman and there is no such thing as a “rocket missile” because the photo is of a bomb. I got on the Internet and looked up photo images by Anadolu Agency Via Getty Images (under SD UT photo).
There are many photos of this same bomb being shown all around Gaza. If you copy and rotate and zoom the photo you will see it is marked MK-84-1000 KG, 31021003, 430 KG Tritonal. This is a MK-84 bomb, the tail has been cut open to remove the Tritonal explosive filler for HAMAS and PLO terroristic activities. As any intelligent person knows: a “rocket” is an unguided explosive filled tubular device with fixed wings or fins, it cannot change course once fired. A “missile” is guided explosive filled tubular device capable of changing direction by internal or external means.
This bomb has been used for anti-Israeli propaganda for some time and the LA Times and SD Times fell for it or knew it was fake. Sorry Ms(s) Kraft, King and Salah, but you don’t know a damned thing about reporting the truth. San Diego Union-Tribune: I demand a front page apology to the nation of Israel and a promise to report the news honestly.
I work in the hotel industry, and when governor Newsom was talking about the golden state stimulus, he said he would include those in the food industry (“Where the Faulconer governor money is coming from,” News Under the Radar, April 28). Well, I am in the food industry, and I have not received no check, and we was hit very hard, sometime they had work, and sometimes they don’t,the EDD was cutting our checks, when we were out of work, thank God I live with family, but my mom works for city schools, my aunt a hospital. I hope that Newsom include us workers in this new stimulus he talking about.
Noticed “Ask a Hipster” was missing from the last publication, did you can him? He answered my questions so I hate to see him go but there really has to be a finite number of questions to ask.
Editor: that was just a week off for the Hipster.
