Fashion blogger Erin Miller may not be native to San Diego, but since her move from Iowa two years ago, she has managed to grow her online following here in Southern California significantly. Now, many of Erin’s San Diego followers rely on her for recommendations pertaining to fashion, food, skin care, beauty, and lifestyle. Erin decided to start her fashion blog in 2014, and from the beginning, she was dedicated to consistently posting high-quality content and actively engaging with others. Her goal on Instagram has always been to inspire. “I want to inspire people in fashion. I also hope to inspire people to explore their creativity in other aspects of life with creative photography and thought-provoking content creation.”

Erin’s favorite part of having an online presence is feeling that she’s inspired people. She elaborated, “It is so rewarding to see people recreate one of my portraits, style an outfit based on my content, or respond to one of my goofy stories by telling me it made their day.”

When I asked her how she deals with the negative side of social media, particularly online trolls and bullies, she said, “I honestly did not think negative comments online would have an effect on me when I first started. Fortunately, I have not been the focus of too much negativity on social media. The times I have, however, are definitely challenging to shrug off. With time, I’ve learned to ignore it (easier said than done). There is so much positive energy spread on social media, and I choose to let that influence and motivate me to continue creating.”

I asked Erin to describe her style in three words. “Boho, chic, and edgy," she responded without hesitation. "But to be honest, my style is constantly evolving and is influenced by my mood, my location, my surroundings, the music I’m listening to, etc. It’s all about experimenting, finding what works best for you, and having fun with it!” When it comes to shopping, Erin loves the convenience of shopping online. “But when I do go shopping, I love going to Fashion Valley and UTC. They have an amazing selection of stores for all price ranges! My favorite store to shop in person is Zara. They have amazing staple pieces and shoes at affordable prices!”

Photoshoots are an everyday occurrence in a fashion blogger’s life. When planning a shoot, Erin always tries to envision the perfect setting for a given outfit. “I am so fortunate to have some amazing places to shoot in the San Diego area. I love the buildings in Balboa Park for more dramatic shots. I also love shooting in Old Town for all of its versatile backgrounds. When I want a dreamy nature shot, I love Mission Trails at golden hour, the fields in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, or the forest in Mount Laguna. For beach shoots, I love Coronado and Windandsea.”
