Killer Chicoms

Scott Marks lets his literary talent promote a kind of tyranny that if successful, will mean his every word be reviewed before printing (“Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: play ‘em again, Sacha,” Movie Reviews, October 29). The lies and slander in his review against people who would retain America’s culture have nothing to do with the movie and are tripe, and promote the loss of liberty and choice that Scott has no understanding of. I lived in Peru when the Chicoms tried to overthrow the gov’t with terrorism, bombing and killing with no mercy, and my wife has seen the inside of Saigon’s re-education camps first hand: your hate has no place in our nation. Support liberty and freedom under our Constitution.

Paternal omission

One of the local five artists featured is A.J. Croce (“Cardinal crowdfunding,” Live Five, November 5). Notes loss of his wife of 24 years but not a hint as to loss of his iconic dad Jim Croce in a 1973 Louisiana small plane crash, or that A.J. is famous son of an iconic dad. Dad having hits standing the test of time: “Bad Bad Leroy Brown” and “Time in a Bottle. “

Animalistic doping

I was searching for some articles about CBD today and came across your page: Cannabis for critters on your site (“Cannabis for Critters,” News Ticker, January 28, 2018). I noticed you linked out to some other great articles about CBD for pets within your post. I work for Evopure, and we created a similar post to the one you linked to, which is published on our blog and you can check out here: https://www.evopure.co.uk/how-to-take-cbd-oil/. Ours is thorough and up to date, goes through dosage, and the restrictions and regulations regarding CBD for animals. I thought it might be worth a mention on your page. Whether you choose to link or not, great work on that piece!

Late lamented rents

Dear San Diego, a heartbroken story of love and abuse; gentrification forced me to leave my home town (“Golden Hill – slowly gentrifying,” From the Archives, February 17, 2020). Lived in Ocean Beach 1979 through 2008, then Normal Heights 2008, through 2018. Lived in Normal Heights due to large rent increases in Ocean Beach. In Normal Heights, 2008, studio $450; 2013 $690; 2016, $870. 2018, $1,325. That broke me. Looked all over town, inland to Yuma, North to Visalia, Riverside, same gentrification dilemma. Friends, former neighbors: You voted no rent control and hurt me big time. Half of you rent, half of rentals are corporate owned, corporations charging as much money as is possible, to the point renters must seek government aid. It’s obvious I’m angry, who would not be? I was abused, always a good citizen and neighbor. I’m hurt.
