Brace yourselves. Oversized blazers are making a comeback. Just ask Paola. She wore one for a casual day out in North Park with her friends. (I was inspired to purchase one for my next casual outing.) Paola is from the Imperial Valley town of Calexico. She said, “It’s a border town, so it was a fun place to grow up .” She is currently a Social Media Manager for a well-known family law firm located in downtown San Diego which she declined to name.
I asked her about the oversized tan blazer she was wearing. Turns out it was from one of my favorite stores, H&M ($30). Her simple white top was from Forever 21 ($5), her light-wash jeans were from Levis (on sale for $15). She bought her black strappy sandals from Target ($20) and her pearl handbag from Amazon ($15). To complete the look, Paola decided to wear some gold jewelry which she purchased from an online shop called Bandida (@shopbandida on Instagram). “I love this particular brand, because it was created by a local San Diegan, who wanted to start a jewelry line that emphasized Latinas and women of various ethnicities.”
When I asked her to describe her personal style, she said “I would say my style is edgy, boho, and vintage. It really depends on my mood, because I never stick to one style. I love trying all types of looks and colors, My style is mostly influenced by Mom. She has a really bohemian look that I feel I get from her. My style is also influenced by my favorite models and artists, such as Bella Hadid, Alexa Chung, Harry Styles, and Dua Lipa to name a few. I try to follow trends, but I mostly do my own thing.”
Paola’s go-to pieces for a casual day are high-waisted jeans, vintage Stuart Weitzman squared-toed booties and a band tee.
“For fun I like to go thrifting. It’s my favorite way to pass time. I’m addicted to finding affordable fashion pieces. I also really enjoy photography and making YouTube videos whenever I get a chance. And last but not least, I have a Book Club if anyone would like to join me.”
