"We're having a virtual Seaport Sessions show this evening, live streaming on Vimeo," says Casbah operator Tim Mays. "Dirty Sweet and Low Volts will be performing live in studio at Seaport and you can watch for free." Hosted by Tim Pyles of 91X Loudspeaker, this Sessions edition also features work by artists in residence from Studio by the Bay, Bread and Salt, La Bodega Gallery, Oslo's Sardine Bar, Jessica Ling Findley, and Studio Marissa. The performances kick off this evening, Thursday March 19, at 9pm. More live streams are promised soon from the Casbah, which for now is donating merch sales to their temporarily laid off staffers.

Closed door performance from Monday March 16, at Winstons in OB

The Electric Waste Band refused to break their decades-long streak of playing Winstons in OB every single Monday night, so they too streamed their performance online, thanks to videographer David Wright bringing a multi-camera setup to the otherwise closed venue. The band managed to connect directly to viewers by taking requests from watchers at home, in a performance which can be viewed here. The three hour set, live streamed Monday March 16, has already been viewed almost 3000 times. Several other recent Winstons performances can be viewed online here.

Many other locals are already streaming or preparing to do live concert broadcasts, including several on Facebook using Facebook Live Streaming, where Eve Selis and Marc Intravaia will perform a noon concert on Friday, March 20. Live Stream Open Mic is hosting weekend performances from locals such as jazz guitarist Ray D'Ariano and acoustic singer-songwriter Michael Flint. Canadian transplants Daring Greatly have launched Quarantine Sessions Fridays at 7pm each week on Facebook.

One of the city's busiest stage performers, Robin Henkel, was playing multiple venues each week and has racked up over 1,000 gigs archived on his band page in the Local Music Database. He is launching a live online series, as well as free online guitar lessons (beginning to intermediate 12-bar blues) starting on Friday morning, March 20, at 10am via Facebook Live.

Also launching live streams are Celeste Barbier, Lisa Sanders, Jeff Berkley, Mike Keneally, Happy Ron Hill, and many others. Some are requesting financial donations via Venmo or Paypal, while others are streaming with no passing of the virtual hat.

The Reader has launched a new Local Concert Database, where site users can upload audio or video files of performances, as well as hosting live performance streams on the website. Around three dozen audio concerts are already loaded and ready to play, dating back to a 1979 Camel concert at the Roxy Pacific Beach and featuring long-gone venues such as the Bacchanal, Sound FX, the Flash Café, and Chiller's in Mission Beach.

We'll continue reporting on upcoming live performance streams every couple of days in the Reader, both in the Blurt Music News feed and the general events column Your Week, to provide an access hub to live local music until the clubs and concert halls are able to reopen.
