Coronado fans of Tom Cruise and ‘80s blockbusters got a big thrill last week as Tom was spotted cruising around town on a motorcycle while filming scenes for Top Gun: Maverick, a sequel to the hit movie about elite Navy flyboys that made San Diego the movie destination it is today. Unfortunately, Tom’s stay was a short one, as most of the film will be set in the desert outside Las Vegas, where Maverick has made a reputation as the best damn drone pilot around, but one who still plays by his own rules.
Kenny Loggins, whose song “Danger Zone” became a huge hit thanks to its inclusion on the film’s soundtrack, has confirmed that he will be releasing a new version of the song under the revised title “Laser Drone.” “It still sounds cool, because of the lasers,” said Loggins, “but at the same time, it acknowledges the way that war has changed since 1986 — and also, the way Maverick and company have changed.” He then granted SD on the QTa sneak peek at the new version’s opening: Sittin’ in a trailer, out on the Nevada Line/ Pull an extra shift, they’ll have to pay you overtime/ Unmanned aircraft, Laser Drone/ Joystick jockey, Laser Drone…”
