I’m a sci-fi and anime fan, so people are often surprised that two of my favorite shows are Magnum P.I. and I Love Lucy. I think these shows are so original that they can’t be remade! The ’80s TV show Magnum P.I. was everything to a latch-key kid like me. From high-speed car chases to genuine heartfelt moments (especially the episode, “Did You See the Sunrise?”), Tom Selleck, as ex-SEAL-turned-private-investigator Thomas Magnum, led an incredible cast that personified camaraderie. I’ll always appreciate the show’s quirky mix of humor, action and drama. Available on Amazon Video and Netflix.
From stomping on wine grapes and eating chocolates from the conveyor belt, the hilarious hijinks of Lucille Ball as Lucy Ricardo on I Love Lucy, is another magical show. I fondly remember watching reruns with my sister after school. I still can’t say “Vitameatavegamin” without laughing! Available on Hulu and CBS.com.
