Harbor Police responded to the area of Harbor Island for two jet skis that were capsized. Harbor Police called for the rental company to respond, assisted the subjects out of the water and helped right the jet skis.

Harbor Police responded to the Hornblower dock for a medical aid call. After locating an unconscious subject, Harbor Police and ship employees performed CPR until medics arrived and transported the patient to the hospital.
Harbor Police responded to a disturbance where a subject was interfering with firefighters and paramedics as they were responding to an emergency call onboard a boat at a Shelter Island dock. The subject was being verbally abusive, videotaping and blocking the firefighter’s path, and preventing them from doing their job. Harbor Police detectives are investigating and are aware of who the subject is.

Harbor Police issued a citation to the operator of a jet ski that was traveling too fast in a 5 MPH No Wake Zone in the Harbor Island basin.
July 24
Harbor Police stopped a vessel that was suspected of illegal chartering. The information was forwarded to the US Coast Guard for possible prosecution.
Harbor Police stopped a dinghy that was not displaying any navigational lights. During the process of issuing a citation an illegal weapon was located on the subject. He was then taken into custody.
Harbor Police issued a citation to a boater at the Harbor Police guest slips for not displaying the proper registration.

Harbor Police responded to a fire aboard a vessel docked at the Shelter Island fishing pier. A small electrical fire around the stern light was put out by a fire extinguisher.
Harbor Police issued a citation to a boater in the La Playa Anchorage for not having a valid permit.

Harbor Police responded to the A-1 La Playa Anchorage for a vessel dragging its anchor. Harbor Police had to take the vessel into tow to avoid it colliding with several other boats. Vessel Assist was then called and towed the vessel to Marine Group Boat Works.
Harbor Police responded to the call of a boater in distress in North Bay. Upon arrival, Harbor Police found a subject in the water with his kite board. The subject claimed he was too tired to continue kite boarding and the current was carrying him near the main shipping channel. Harbor Police assisted the subject by taking him to the nearest dock.

Harbor Police were called by a subject in Marina Cortez. Due to the subject’s demeanor and comments on the phone, Harbor Police responded to the subject’s vessel. It was found the subject was in need of professional help and was taken to a county mental health facility.
July 18
Harbor Police were contacted by a subject who claimed his child admitted to being sexually assaulted on the Shelter Island fishing pier. The crime allegedly took place over four years ago. Harbor Police detectives are looking into the case.

Harbor Police issued a citation to a boater in North Bay for not displaying the proper registration.

Harbor Police located a reported stolen vessel as it was anchored in La Playa Cove. Two subjects were taken into custody.

Harbor Police assisted two paddle boarders that were in the main shipping channel as a large ship was approaching. Harbor Police escorted the two subjects to safety.
Harbor Police found a dinghy adrift within the Shelter Island Basin. The dinghy was stored at the Harbor Police dinghy dock.
