Name: William Farris
Age: 34
Location: Windansea Beach
It was a crowded day in Windansea when I caught up to William Farris, on the corner of Neptune and Fern Glen. The San Diegan started surfing at the age of eight with his brothers and dad.
“My brothers and I just went out there, started with a boogie board when we were younger and [then] we got a hold of some surfboards. My dad would take us to the beach and we started riding the white water.”
Farris sticks to the surf around La Jolla Hermosa area.
“I surf here, Horseshoe, Big Rock. I don’t really surf Windansea, I surf the reefs where it gets hollow and I surf Black’s Beach.”
“If you don’t really know what you’re doing and you don’t know where the rocks are it can be dangerous [in Windansea]. I would suggest if people have never surfed out here before, come out when it’s flat and dive and find out where all the rocks are.”
