Surfers reported a large bluff collapse at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park two days prior to these photos taken on December 6th.
The beach sand below Point Loma Nazarene University that is frequented by students and park visitors is completely buried. Approximately 30 yards of bluff failed above what is normally a sandy, mid- to low-tide beach. The failure is so large that the nearshore waters are still discolored by sediment over two days later; this even though full-moon tides and moderate surf have been scouring the shoreline.
This is the second large bluff collapse in the area in the past two weeks: the other occurred a quarter mile south.
