The San Diego County unemployment rate dropped to 5 percent in August, down from a revised 5.3 percent in July, according to the California Employment Development Department.
However, the county lost 700 non-agricultural jobs in the month. The biggest drop was in leisure and hospitality jobs, down 2000. Trade, transportation, and utilities jobs rose by 1000. The county gained 25,100 compared with August of 2015.
