Loose hose nearly sinks ship

Coast Guard, Harbor Police, and two tow boats keep it afloat

September 7

— HP located a vessel that was adrift near the A-1 Anchorage off of Shelter Island. The vessel was impounded and later returned to the owner.

— HP impounded a small vessel that was attached to a private dock and beached in La Playa Cove.

September 6

— HP were called to a local hospital to investigate a possible rape that occurred aboard a vessel in SD Bay. It was found that the victim was aboard a charter vessel that was allowing large parties. The crime is still under investigation.

— HP contacted a vessel near buoy #14 and issued a citation for not having any navigational lights.

September 5

— HP contacted a subject at the Shelter Island Launch Ramp and formally served him with an outstanding restraining order.

— HP was dispatched approximately 1.5 miles west of the Point Loma Peninsula for a vessel taking on water. HP responded and arrived on scene with the USCG. Sea Tow and Tow Boat US also arrived on scene and began dewatering the large vessel. HP also used their vessel to assist dewatering the vessel due to the amount of water that was aboard already and continuing to enter. It was found that a large hose came off of one of the drive engines.

September 4

— HP contacted a subject while he was on the Harbor Police guest docks. He was found to have an active misdemeanor warrant, was arrested and taken to County Jail.

— HP were dispatched to a vessel accident just outside of San Diego Bay. The accident involved two subjects that were aboard a small 15’ boat. Both occupants were ejected out of the vessel when it hit a series of large waves. After being ejected from the boat, the small vessel continued running and began turning in circles. HP and Tow Boat US were able to stop the vessel by fouling the propeller with a line. The subjects were not injured.

— HP was contacted for a vessel accident that occurred a while ago in the Kona Kai Marina. The accident involved a sailing vessel striking another vessel as it pulled out of its slip. The minor accident was documented for insurance purposes.

September 3

-HP was contacted by the USCG to assist with the investigation of a charter fishing vessel involved in a collision at the Los Coronado’s Islands. HP assisted with the investigation for the Captain and crew members.

September 2

-HP contacted several subjects aboard a small fishing vessel in north SD Bay. One of the subjects was found to have a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest and was taken to County Jail.

— HP was dispatched to the A-1 Anchorage for an adrift dinghy that was causing a hazard to navigation. The dinghy was impounded at the Harbor Police impound dock.

— HP were dispatched to the Southwestern Yacht Club to investigate a small diesel spill. Notifications were made to environmental agencies and HP documented the incident for investigation.

September 1

— HP stopped a sailing vessel for a violation as it entered SD Bay. The operator was found to have a felony warrant for his arrest. He was taken to County Jail.

August 28

— HP contacted a subject in a no fishing area near the Midway Museum. The subject was found to have a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest and was taken to County Jail.
