In federal court today (September 12), Marchello Dsaun McCain pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI to cover for his brother, Douglas McCain, an American believed killed while fighting with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in Syria.
Marchello McCain is being held in custody without bond; his sentencing will be December 19.
In his plea agreement, Marchello McCain admitted making false statements to the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force about his knowledge of his brother's travel to Syria and use of a credit card to buy an airline ticket from the U.S. to Turkey.
Marchello McCain had previously been convicted of possession of firearms and ammunition by a felon and possession of body armor by a violent felon.
