He jumped into the water and was rescued by a Good Samaritan. He was then transported to the UCSD Burn Center in critical condition. HP extinguished the fire and are investigating the cause.
— HP were patrolling in Glorietta Bay when a subject flagged them down regarding a small dog he found swimming around the area. The small dog appeared to be in the water for a while and was wearing a life preserver. A short time later, the officers were contacted by a distraught subject who stated they had lost their dog when they were sailing through the area. The subject believed the dog fell overboard. He was pleasantly surprised when the officer retrieved the dog from the patrol boat and gave it back to him.
