Wrong pedal sends vehicle into the drink at the Cays

A day in the life of the Harbor Patrol

November 12

— Harbor Patrol responded to the area of Zuniga Jetty for a dinghy that was adrift. The dinghy was located and stored at the HP impound dock. The owner soon contacted HP and retrieved his dinghy.

November 10

— HP stopped a vessel in the La Playa Anchorage for operating at night without any navigational lights. The subject operating the vessel was eventually issued a citation for a variety of offenses.

November 9

— HP are currently investigating a burglary that occurred aboard a vessel within the Cabrillo Marina. The reporting party claims he left his vessel unlocked for a mechanic to do some work. After the work was completed, the vessel remained unlocked. Unknown subject/s then entered the vessel and took some furniture.

— HP responded to the A-9 Anchorage for a vessel that was dragging anchor. HP towed the vessel to safety just prior to it striking the rip-rap rocks. Vessel Assist was then dispatched and eventually towed the vessel to the South Bay due to the owner not being able to respond.

— HP were called to a north bay marina to investigate a possible vandalism. The reporting party claimed the political sign he had supporting his candidate choice was attached to his boat. Upon returning to his boat, he observed that his sign was covered up by a sign that displayed the opposing candidate's name.

November 7

— HP were contacted by a subject regarding his vessel being stolen. The embezzlement case is still under investigation and the vessel was later located in Mission Bay.

November 6

— HP issued citations to three jet skiers for speeding violations within the Shelter Island Basin.

November 2

— HP responded to the Coronado Cays, South SD Bay, for a vehicle that was in the water. HP found that the subject pulled into a parking stall against the water’s edge. The subject accidentally pressed the wrong pedal and the vehicle lunged forward past the sidewalk, down a cliff and into the water.

October 31

— HP Investigated a theft of personal property being taken from a vessel in the A-3 Anchorage in SD Bay.

— HP Investigated a theft of some solar panels and associated equipment from a vessel within the A-3 Anchorage SD Bay.
