The Steph Johnson Trio with Rob Thorsen and Fernando Gomez play a noontime concert at the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library at 1008 Wall Street. Free.

Tuesday 17
Jazz 88 presents Jazz Live with the Gerry Gibbs Thrasher Quartet featuring Rob Hardt at the Saville Theatre on the campus of SD City College at 14th & C Street. Free to jazz 88 members, $10 general admission.

Gilbert Castellanos begins the first of two gigs at Panama 66 (1450 El Prado) when he hosts the Young Lions Series at 6 p.m. before changing up to lead the jam session at 8:30. All ages, no cover, no minimum… The Ian Tordella Trio with Mack Leighton and Charles Weller play Seven Grand (3054 University Avenue) 21+, 9:30 p.m. No cover… The Jazz 88 Blues Jam goes down at Proud Mary’s Southern Bar & Grill (5500 Kearny Mesa Road) at 6:30 p.m. with host J. The Matt Smith Neu Jazz Trio with Ed Kornhauser and Antar Martin host the jam session at 98 Bottles from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. 21+, no cover… The Steph Johnson Trio with Rob Thorsen and Fernando Gomez play an afternoon concert at Handcrafted (415 South Cedros Avenue) from noon to 3 p.m. before heading south as a duo to play the Turf Club (1116 25th Street) from 8 to 11 p.m. No cover.
