— HP issued a citation to a boater for not having a valid permit for staying at the Harbor Police Transient slips.

— Harbor Police issued a citation to a subject for discarding his cigarette into the bay.

— HP issued two citations at the Harbor Police Transient slips. One was for a subject not having a permit for the slips, the other citation was issued to a subject who had an outstanding warrant.

— HP responded to a major accident in the A-9 Anchorage involving a power boat that had struck an anchored vessel, causing the power boat’s operator to be ejected. The boat then continued on striking the rocks next to the Coast Guard Station, causing two other occupants to be ejected. Two subjects had multiple minor injuries and one subject sustained major injuries. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this case, which is still under investigation.

— Harbor Police Officers were on the docks at Cabrillo Isle Marina assisting other vehicle patrol officers. While there, they witnessed smoke coming from an unoccupied vessel. The officers were able to board the unoccupied vessel and extinguish the fire, which was caused by a stove being left on.

— HP responded to the San Diego Yacht Club for a female boater who had slipped and fallen into the water while trying to pull her boat to a dock. A nearby neighbor and two divers assisted her out of the water. Paramedics responded and transported her to the hospital for minor injuries.

— HP responded to the Maritime Museum to investigate a theft. The staff informed Harbor Police that the British Royal Navy Captain Dress Coat from the movie Master and Commander had gone missing. The crime is under investigation.

— HP was called to the A-5 anchorage off Shelter Island to investigate a domestic violence incident that took place in November. The victim stated he was afraid to come forward to report the abuse due to possibly being retaliated against by his partner. The case is currently under investigation.

— HP responded to a call of two trespassers on a large yacht in the Shelter Island area. The subjects stated they were aboard the wrong boat and quickly left the area in a small dinghy.

— HP responded to the Marina Cortez to investigate a domestic violence call. There was no physical abuse and the incident was documented.

— HP responded to a call of an assault between two males who had been drinking on their boat in the Kona Kai Marina.

— HP stopped a boater who was operating a vessel in the dark and fog without navigational lights. It was discovered that the vessel had been taken without its owner’s permission.

— HP contacted a subject who was in the A-9 Anchorage without a permit. The subject was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

— HP responded to a sail boat caught in large waves off of Point Loma. The vessel soon became disabled and the two occupants were forced into the water. HP and the SD Lifeguards rescued the two people and towed their vessel to safety. Paramedics were called and took both people to the hospital for treatment of some minor wounds.

San Diego Lifeguards are a 24-hour rescue agency whose responsibilities include water rescue, boat rescue, marine fire suppression, coastal cliff rescue, underwater search and recovery, swift water and flood search, rescue and emergency medical response. San Diego Lifeguards also handle enforcement of city, state and federal laws and regulations. Lifeguards are classified as peace officers with the power of arrest.
