Big Bloom debuts Heavy Angel at the Casbah on July 7. “We’ll be selling the CDs for five dollars, and anyone who kisses [drummer] Sean Daly on the lips gets a free CD,” says singer Katie Howard. “Also, we might play a Neil Young cover of ‘Don’t Let It Bring You Down’ that we’ve been digging a lot lately.”

The release party for A Real Good Time from Brian Jones Rock ’n’ Roll Revival happens July 7 at Winstons in O.B. Lexington Field’s Redwood record drops July 8 at Rosie O’Grady’s, where the band will also be celebrating their seven-year anniversary and 400th show at the Normal Heights venue. The debut album from 16-year-old Youtube star Alyssa Walker, Break the Wall, premieres July 8 with an all-ages performance at the Company Pub in Poway.

Expect a multimedia performance from Freedom Fries when they launch their three-song CD Start the Riots at Second Wind Santee on July 15. “The debut will showcase the EP along with a video visual experience that guides the audience along the narrative hidden in the music,” says Rhea Saldivar. “Carefully crafted voiceovers and visuals will guide you in and out of each song.” Two of the tracks, “Rebels Run” and “Soldiers the Child,” can be heard in the newly released independent film South of 8.

A new Kneehighs full-length, We Put the Fun in Dysfunction, premieres July 29 at the Casbah. Killing the Messenger has big plans for their Fuel to the Fire album, which debuts July 29 at Soma. “We recently signed to the EMP label group, which is owned by Dave Ellefson of Megadeth,” says guitarist Jon Arbar. “They’ll be handling distribution for this release.” In addition, “We recently secured endorsements with Schecter Guitar Research and Coldcock Whiskey, so soon we’ll have new gear and lots of alcohol to help us on our journey forward.”
