Rob Thorsen performs an evening of solo double-bass and poetry at Café Cabaret (3739 Adams Avenue) at 7:30 p.m. No cover charge.

Wednesday 15
Fusion guitar pioneer Al Di Meola presents the Romantic Warrior Tour with Gumbi Ortiz, Evan Garr, Elias Tona, Phillipe Saisse, and Luis Alicea at the Music Box (1337 India Street) at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $30 to $45… Trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos presents the Young Lions Series, featuring Kyle Myers and a quartet with Hugo Suarez, Matthew Smith, and Harley Magsino playing at Panama 66 (1450 El Prado) at 6 p.m. before he leads the jam session at 8:30. No cover, all-ages, musicians bring your horns!... There’s a blues jam session sponsored by KSDS happening at Proud Mary’s Southern Bar & Grill (5500 Kearny Mesa Road) hosted by J. The Carlsbad Music Festival is featuring several performances by local jazz artists this weekend, including shows by the Peter Kuhn Trio with Nathan Hubbard and Kyle Motl at St. Michaels Hall (2775 Carlsbad Boulevard) from 4:40 p.m. and an appearance at Giacoleti Music (505 Carlsbad Village Drive) at 7 p.m. Free… Also at the Carlsbad Music Festival, bassist Kyle Motl has solo performances at St. Michaels Chapel at 3:40 p.m. and the New Village Arts Foundry (2787 State Street) at 5:30 p.m. No cover… The Leonard Patton Trio with Rob Thorsen and Ed Kornhauser play the Westgate Hotel (1055 Second Avenue) at 8 p.m. $20 food/drink minimum… There’s a Second Line Parade featuring the Euphoria Brass Band that starts at the Jazz 88 studios at City College Curran Plaza and marches to Panama 66 in Balboa Park at 7 p.m. till closing.
