Longtime Rancho Santa Fe resident and Cayman Islands tax-haven figure Gerald Parsky, who in 2006 bitterly battled a new school in the wealthy enclave north of San Diego, is now in the crosshairs of a group calling itself the California Hedge Clippers, according to an L.A. Times report.
The organization says it is “working to expose the mechanisms hedge funds and billionaires use to influence government and politics in order to expand their wealth, influence and power.” Notes the group’s website, “As a member of Governor Schwarzenegger’s blue ribbon tax commission, Parsky favored reducing income taxes on the highest-earning Californians. According to the Sacramento Bee, Parsky led the faction of the commission most interested in slashing taxes on the wealthy.”
Hedge Clippers says it is backed by the Strong Economy for All Coalition, financed by labor unions, including the New York state AFL-CIO and public employees’ union SEIU.
