KSDS introduces the first annual Jazz Club Caravan, which tours to ten jazz spots from 6 to 10 p.m. Buses run every 10 minutes and the cover price is included in one ticket, which runs $12 for members, $15 general admission, or $20 at the first door. The clubs in question include Bouree (6523 University) featuring Daneen Wilburn; The Amigo Spot (1333 Hotel Circle South) featuring Tomcat Courtney and Johnny’s Gypsy Caravan; Dizzy’s (4275 Mission Bay Drive) featuring Mar Picao Sextet; The Handlery Hotel featuring the Bruce Forman Trio; Panama 66 (1450 El Prado) featuring the Young Lions All-Stars; Seven Grand (3051 University Avenue) featuring the Robert Dove Trio; The Music Box (1337 India Street) featuring Kaki King with the Danny Green Trio; Solare (2820 Roosevelt) featuring Chris Lea; The Westgate (1005 Second Avenue) featuring Trio Gadjo; and The Turquoise Bar Europa (873 Turquoise Street)… Triple bill going down at the Merrow (1271 University Avenue) starring the HM3 with Harley Magsino, Joshua White and Charlie Weller, the Matt Smith Neu Jazz Trio with Ed Kornhauser and Mack Leighton and the Dapper Kings featuring Koosha Hakimi. Gilbert Castellanos Presents the Young Lions Series at Panama 66 with the Pink Trio featuring Brenda Greggio, Dharma Dorazio, and Alyssa Wishnuff playing on the patio at 6 p.m. Castellanos then heads inside at 8:30 to lead the jam session… The KSDS Blues Jam Session is happening at Proud Mary’s Southern Bar & Grill with host J. Otis Williams and guitarist Mark Augustin from 6:30 to 9:30. Free and family-friendly.

The Matt Smith Neu Jazz Trio with Hugo Suarez on piano and Harley Magsino on bass play Harbor Breakfast (1502 India Street) from 7 to 9 p.m. No cover charge… The First Thursday Jam session with Gary Rich, Jason Shattil, Dean Hulett, and Russell Bizzett takes place at Bourre Southern Bistro (6523 University Avenue) from 7 to 10 p.m. No cover.

Friday 2
The Rob Thorsen Trio with Bobby Cressey and Duncan Moore play CB Ellis Plaza (550 West C Street) from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Free… Lorraine Castellanos teams up with Bob Boss and Antar Martin to play the Happy Hour at the Handlery Hotel (950 Hotel Circle North) at 5:30 p.m. No cover, validated parking… Gilbert Castellanos leads a trio with Rob Thorsen on bass and Bob Boss on guitar in the Plaza Bar at the Westgate Hotel at 8 p.m. for a $20 food/drink minimum...
