Wealthy Democratic money bundler Christine Forester of La Jolla is throwing a May 4 fundraiser for Ted Strickland, an ex–Ohio governor running for U.S. Senate this year. To be a cohost of the party, donors must either come up with $2000 or “raise $8000.” Regular admission is $250.
Also on the bill is Irwin Jacobs, the billionaire cofounder of Qualcomm and major Democratic patron, along with special guest Jim Obergefell, a plaintiff in the Ohio case that resulted in last year’s 5-4 Supreme Court ruling for same-sex marriage. A former backer of gun rights, the 71-year-old Strickland drew criticism during the March primary for reversing his position on automatic weapon regulation.
