The California Board of Accountancy has filed an accusation against James Milton Comstock of Carlsbad. Last year he pleaded guilty to stealing more than $212,000 from ArtSplash, a nonprofit organization promoting the arts. Accountants who are found guilty of such activity are disciplined by the accounting board.
He had returned the funds by the time he was sentenced to more than two years of probation. Comstock had been chief financial officer of one craft brewer and and a co-owner of another. He had also served as Carlsbad city treasurer. The conviction was only related to ArtSplash.
