Bassist Ben Wanicur hosts his monthly jam session at 3rd Space (4610 Park Boulevard) with Duncan Moore on drums and Jason Shattil on piano at 8:00 p.m. $5 at the door.

Trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos begins his busy night by presenting the Young Lions Series at Panama 66 (1450 El Prado) featuring young improvisers under the age of 25 at 6:00 p.m. Then, he switches gears and hosts the jazz jam session with Joshua White, Mackenzie Leighton, and Duncan Moore at 9:00 p.m. until midnight.

They call themselves “The Nest Band You’ve Never Heard,” and they feature Kris Korsgaden, Matthew Smith, Mack Leighton, and Louis Valenzuela. Catch them at 98 Bottles (2400 Kettner Boulevard) at 8:00 p.m. $15 at the door … the AAA Celebration Series continues with Janet Hammer fronting a trio with Rob Whitlock and Charles Weller at Northern Spirits Jazz Club (727 West San Marcos Boulevard) at 7:00 p.m. no cover no minimum.
