According to the October edition of the California Bar Journal, two local lawyers, Charles Colin Cossio of Alpine and Louis Gordon Bruno of Escondido, have been disbarred.
Cossio's disbarment involved moral turpitude. The state bar noted that he had stated incorrectly under oath that he had never been disciplined by the bar. He also told the Department of Real Estate untruthfully that he had never had a professional license denied, suspended, or revoked; and he told the Department of Corporations that he had never had a state agency find him unethical or discipline or suspend him.
According to the state bar, Louis Gordon Bruno failed to comply with terms of his disciplinary probation. He had been suspended in 2007 for failing to perform services competently and in 2013 for claiming he was eligible to practice law when he wasn't.
Both men earned undergraduate degrees at UCSD. Cossio got his law degree at University of San Diego; Gordon at Thomas Jefferson School of Law.
