San Diego Lifeguards are a 24 hour rescue agency whose responsibilities include water rescue, boat rescue, marine fire suppression, coastal cliff rescue, underwater search and recovery, swift water and flood search, rescue and emergency medical response. San Diego Lifeguards also handle enforcement of city, state and federal laws and regulations. Lifeguards are classified as peace officers with the power of arrest.
— RP states she found a 2 person ocean kayak high and dry in a pocket beach at the foot of Rosemont St. She states the paddles are floating in the shore break. 3 King investigates and places the kayak next to the stairs and removes paddles from the water.
— Stingray puncture wound at Tourmaline Surf Park. The unknown aged male patient was transported to Pacific Beach Lifeguard Station for routine treatment.
— SDPD calls LCC and informs there are 10 people drinking and jumping off the cliff at Froude/Osprey public parking lot, “Pappy’s”. 1 Sam and SDPF unit respond and make warnings.
— Unit 24X reports an unknown age male fell from a bike and suffered a lower leg injury. Engine 21 and Medic 25 treat patient and transport to Scripps La Jolla.
— Vessel reports over VHF they observed a sea lion with a gaff stuck in its neck. Guardian meets with RP off Dana and searches the area. Unable to locate.
— SDPB 612Tom requests lifeguard assistance for an unknown age female having some sort of medical issue. Lifeguard unit 1Sam responds and provides minor first aid before clearing.
— USCG advises via phone of an 18’ pleasure vessel dead in the water 500 yards from shore south of OB pier. 1Sam, Jet1 and Rescue5 respond and Rescue5 determines that the anchor line is wrapped in the propeller. The vessel is towed back to Mission Bay.
— RP states there is a 27 year old, male stingray patient 500 yards north of Indian Canyon. Unit 34 responds and treats patient and releases.
— MDC advises 63 year old female with unspecified injuries due to a fall. Unit 36, Engine 13 and Medic 21 on scene. Medic 21 transports patient to Scripps La Jolla.
— Harbor Police assisted a boater near Zuniga Jetty that was having mechanical difficulties with his vessel. HPD escorted the vessel back to the Coronado Launch ramp due to its steering issues.
— Stingray sting comes through as a 911 call at Tourmaline parking lot. Patient is transported by lifeguards to the Pacific Beach tower and treated.
— 911 caller of a stingray wound at Blacks beach on a 63 year old male. Unit 34 on scene and handles minor medical treatment.
— People unable to make it back to the beach where they started because of the high tide. 2 people call 911 because they are stuck on the Scripps beach side of the beach and the rocks are blocking them from going back to Blacks Beach. A citizen helps them back to the beach before lifeguards get on scene.
— Possible hot air balloon down in the water off of Torrey Pines State beach. State guards request we respond a vessel for help. The situation clears before we leave the Mission Bay Channel.
— Harbor Police arrested a subject in a north San Diego Bay marina for being in violation of a domestic violence restraining order.
— Person needing assistance at 600 Diamond St, 20 year old male. Sting ray wound, person taken to the PB tower. Treated and clear.
— Dislocated shoulder at 700 Grand Ave on a 56 year old male. Walk up to PB tower, medics called and respond to evaluate. Patient AMA.
— Unconscious/unresponsive 20 year old male in the public bathroom at 700 Grand Ave. 21 Sam responds and patient became awake and eloped.
— Jet ski near South Mission Jetty on the ocean side drops their crew and operator swim towards the jetty. Guards respond as both operator and crew get back onboard. Department of Homeland Security already aware of a smuggling PWC and responds. They make the stop and search the PWC at our dock. Suspects apprehended.
— Diabetic emergency 911 call at the Southern Comfort Station at MB. 62 year old male. Medics on scene and handle.
— Harbor Police issued a citation to a boater for not having the proper registration.
— 38’ Vessel ‘Lani Kai’ hails SeaTow on VHF 16 for assistance because of 1’ water in the bilge outside Mission Bay Channel. M-1 responds. Driscoll’s called for haul out. Vessel makes it to Driscoll’s and hauled out successfully.
— Vessel on the rocks in Mission Bay Channel, South Jetty. SDLG hailed on VHF 16, R-5 responds. Prop is fouled. R-5 assists vessel back to Quivira Basin slip.
— Harbor police responded to a dinghy that was adrift near the aircraft carriers and stored it for being a hazard to navigation.
— 911 call possible swimmers in distress 200 yards south of Crystal Pier. RP states he thinks he sees two swimmers in the water and is concerned about their safety. RP then states it looks like a couple having sex in the water and they are clear. RP refuses to remain on scene and leaves the area. Units arrive in the area and are unable to locate any swimmers and the RP is no longer in the area/lifeguards on scene call it clear.
— Call for a vessel on the rocks at the entrance to Dana Landing. A lifeguard rescue vessel responds, tows the vessel of the rocks and secures to a nearby dock.
— Harbor Police located a canoe that was adrift in South Bay San Diego and stored it for being a hazard to navigation.
— USCG contacts LCC advising Vessel Merlyn (110’ Research Vessel contracted by Scripps) requested our assistance with one of the deck hands experiencing a unspecified cardiac event. LCC coordinated with “Merlyn” on VHF 16 and Rescue 5 met them in the Turning Basin, receiving a 50 year old oriented and ambulatory male with a history of heart trouble and complaining of irregular pulse. The patient was taken to reception dock and transferred to Medic 20 and on to Scripps La Jolla.
— 1Charles reports (as witness and 1st responder) Vehicle rear ended other vehicle and subsequent airbag deployment. Patient self extricates and shortly after making contact with 1 Charles, has a 30 second loss of consciousness, falling to the ground. 24 Sam arrived on scene and Medic and Engine 20 follow and provide transport to UCSD.
— Harbor Police were dispatched to investigate a report of a stolen vessel from a construction company that uses the vessel for working on piers.
— LCC notified by VHF 16 that Vessel KILI in Mariners Basin Dragging anchor during 40 knot Northwest wind. The 36’ Sailing Vessel KILI was relocated in Mariners Basin by a rescue boat.
— Three simmers not making any headway off La Jolla Cove. Jet 3 on scene and executes rescues. All patients successfully rescued and transported to LJ
