A couple suspected in a purse-snatching incident were arrested Wednesday night (November 18), police are reporting.
On November 5, a suspect later identified as 18-year-old Dante Bahena approached a woman in her 50s who had been shopping at a Toys R Us store on Grossmont Drive in La Mesa. Bahena allegedly attempted to grab the woman's purse and, when she resisted, he used a stun gun to force her to relinquish her bag. The unidentified victim suffered minor injuries that did not require hospitalization, according to a November 19 report from La Mesa police.
Bahena then fled the scene in a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Katrina Fredrickson. The pair used the victim's credit cards throughout the South Bay area before being identified.
On November 18, sheriff's deputies encountered the suspects in their vehicle near Highway 94 and College Avenue in Lemon Grove. Both were arrested on charges of robbery and fraudulent credit card use.
