"Honestly, it's been the most refreshing experience," said Millicent Guzzlethwaite of La Jolla's Muirlands West neighborhood following a fundraising presentation by Republican Presidential candidate Ben Carson in the La Jolla Country Club's Throckmorton Ballroom. "First, there was the pleasure of disapproving of Mr. Carson for reasons that honestly had nothing to do with race. It was just that it was Jeb Bush's turn. The Guzzlethwaites understand how it is in great families. But once it came out that Mr. Bush had married a Catholic, of all things, well…it left the field open. And the happy result has been the surprising pleasure of being able to support a black man, if only because he has the good sense to oppose the arrival of dirty Syrians on our fair shores. Refugees, indeed."
