Abrash presents: Flandrew Fleisenbreg & Loren Groendaal, Nathan Hubbard, Michiko Ogawa, Nick Lesley, and Nicolee Kuester at Space 4 Art (325 15th Street) at 7 p.m. $8 at the door.

Tuesday 17
The trio of Kyle Motl on bass with Tobin Chodos on piano and Kjell Nordeson on drums play the Loft (911 Lyman Lane, UCSD) at 8 p.m. This is a free concert.

Wednesday 18
Trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos begins his double-shift at Panama 66 (1450 El Prado) by hosting the Young Lions Series featuring emerging talent from 6 to 8 p.m. Then, he leads the jazz jam session from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. All ages, no cover, musicians bring your horns!

A jazzy version of Peter & the Wolf featuring Steph Johnson, Rob Thorsen, Faith Jensen Ismay, and Jerry Hagar takes place at the Salvation Army Kroc Center (6605 University Avenue) from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Free family night… the AAA Holiday Celebration Series kicks off at Northern Spirits Jazz Club (727 West San Marcos Boulevard) with vocalist Daneen Wilburn singing the books of Abbey Lincoln and Shirley Horn accompanied by Rob Whitlock and Charles Weller from 7 p.m. No cover, no minimum.

Jazz at the Jacobs a new series at Symphony Hall (750 B Street) commences with Living Legends of Jazz featuring Charles McPherson, Gilbert Castellanos, Mike Wofford, Barbara Morrison, Tom Scott, Roy McCurdy, and Henry Franklin at 8 p.m. Opening the show are the Young Lions. Tickets range from $20 to $65… Fresh Sound features a solo clarinet performance by NYC musician Vasko Dukovski at Bread & Salt (1955 Julien Avenue) $15 at the door… The Rob Whitlock New Jazz Experiment with Joey Carano, Amber Whitlock, and Charles Weller dig in at Northern Spirits from 7:30 p.m. No cover, no minimum.

Sunday 22
The Matt Smith Neu Jazz Trio with Ed Kornhauser, Mack Leighton, and Fernando Gomez host the jam session at 98 Bottles (2400 Kettner Boulevard). No cover, 21+ 2:30 to 5:30 p.m… The Danny Green Trio play Croce’s Park West (2760 Fifth Avenue) at 6 p.m. for a $10 cover.
