The yellowtail off La Jolla have been there for the kayakers and private boaters. Though they are still tearing it up at the Coronado Islands, it looks like they are starting to get less nervous about the big sport-fishing boats right here less than a mile offshore.
24 anglers aboard the Chubasco II 1/2 day am run caught 3 yellowtail, 2 sculpin, 2 sand bass, 35 rockfish, 1 lingcod and 23 calico bass, of which 20 were released.
The Premier 1/2 day afternoon run hosting 16 anglers at the rail reported 3 rockfish, 9 calico bass and 1 lingcod kept, with 40 calico bass released.
6 anglers aboard the Daily Double 1/2 day am run boated 22 rockfish, 1 lingcod and 46 calico bass. 40 of the calico bass were released.
The New Seaforth 1/2 day morning run with 26 anglers aboard returned to the dock with 1 ocean whitefish, 1 sculpin and 96 rockfish in the gunnysacks. 12 anglers aboard their afternoon 1/2 day run caught 2 yellowtail and 83 rockfish.
