In January, I launched a fundraising and awareness campaign for the Lupus Foundation of Southern California utilizing the quality wares of local brewing companies that volunteered to brew beers to raise proceeds for this year-long effort, which is called Beer to the Rescue.
When I first wrote about it, only a few beer-release event details were available. Now, the entire first half of the year is planned out, including the identities of the beers that will be offered. And, more good news — lots more breweries have signed up to participate.
Thanks to the additions of Bay City Brewing Company, Booze Brothers Brewing Company, Half Door Brewing Company, Kilowatt Brewing Company, Oceanside Ale Works, Pacific Islander Beer Company, Thorn St. Brewery, and Twisted Manzanita Ales, there are more than 40 events taking place in association with this campaign. Most of them involve individual beers that go beyond traditional brewing guidelines or a brewery’s current offerings. The following is the schedule from now through the end of June.
March 21, 11:30 a.m. | Barley Forge Brewing Co., Costa Mesa: Lupulin Against Lupus Collaboration Imperial White IPA with orange peel and coriander

If anybody is interested in volunteering in any capacity, be it staffing the LFSC’s booths at beer festivals and release events or anything else you can lend to the campaign — elbow grease, administrative assistance, a fun personality — shoot me an email. The same goes for any brewing companies that would like to participate. There is always room for more and we are happy to welcome anybody aboard. Thank you all for your support.
